Ume paste salted Japanese apricots
Ume paste is made from pickled ume fruits, ume vinegar (the liquid from the pickled ume fruits) and pickled shiso leaves. In the Netherlands you rarely find ume pasta where all ingredients are organic. We can therefore proudly say that our ume pasta is completely organic.
In Japan, ume pasta is often served alongside a dish. You can also season rice with it or spread it on bread, for example. In addition, ume is also a large part of Japanese tradition. So they say in Japan: 'an umeboshi a day keeps the doctor away!'
If you've never eaten ume before, it's definitely worth a try! The taste is powerful, incomparable and you experience two strong flavors (salty and sour) at the same time. A beautiful dining experience!
