People also prefer new varieties of vegetables and fruits that are uniform in size, color, and shape, and tend to overlook older varieties and the less attractive specimens that are richer in salvestrols. Finally, food manufacturers remove salvestrols for the sake of taste, color, and clarity from (refined) foods such as fruit juices and olive oil. The taste becomes sweeter without the need to add sugar. Refined foods generally contain little to no salvestrols. The British research group that discovered salvestrols has concluded that today's diet contains 80 to 90% less salvestrols compared to fifty to a hundred years ago. Only in unprocessed and untreated foods are relevant amounts of salvestrols still found. \r\u003cbr\u003e\r\u003cbr\u003eWhy salvestrols are measured in points\r\u003cbr\u003eThe salvestrol points system is designed to indicate the amount of salvestrols in supplements and food. Different salvestrols have different potencies that are not directly related to the number of milligrams. The scale of the points system is based on a calculation of the amount of salvestrols that occurred in a historical diet from more than 100 years ago.
