Algae are microscopic plants, located at the very bottom of the food chain, and are the primary source of the omega 3 fatty acid DHA. Algae produce omega 3 fatty acids themselves and are the food for fatty fish species such as herring and sardines, which are therefore rich in omega 3.
Vegan Algae Oil is an omega 3 supplement made from sustainably cultivated algae. The fermentation process of the algae takes place in a closed pure environment. This means the algae oil is free from contamination.

What are EPA & DHA?
EPA and DHA are omega 3 fatty acids that contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure (with an intake of 3 grams of EPA and DHA per day, not exceeding 5 g combined). EPA and DHA also have a beneficial effect on the heart (with 250 mg of EPA & DHA per day). Additionally, DHA is good for the brain and vision (with 250 mg per day).

Well-absorbed form
These algae oil capsules contain 150 mg of EPA & 100 mg of DHA in their natural triglyceride form per capsule. This means that the fatty acid chains have remained intact, unlike some algae oils that are converted into ethyl esters through a chemical process. This process, which increases the concentration of omega-3 fatty acids, removes the fatty acids from their original triglyceride form and binds them to ethanol, resulting in ethyl esters.
Ethyl esters can be less efficiently absorbed and oxidize faster than the natural triglyceride form.

High EPA content
EPA and DHA are two long fatty acids and are only found in food in fish oil and algae oil. Most algae primarily produce DHA and only a little EPA. To achieve a higher EPA content in algae oil, specific algae strains that naturally produce more EPA are used. This is done without the use of concentration processes or chemical conversions, allowing the oil to retain its stable triglyceride form naturally. The entire process, from cultivation to oil, is solvent-free, non-GMO, allergen-free, and 100% plant-based.
Thanks to the higher EPA content, this Algae Oil composition is closer to fish oil than our other algae oil variants. This makes it the ideal choice for those who want to experience the benefits of omega-3 but prefer a plant-based option.

TOTOX value of Algae Oil
The TOTOX value (total oxidation value) indicates the degree of fatty acid oxidation. This value has nothing to do with spoilage but with how old the oil is. As the oil gets older, the TOTOX value increases. The European guideline is set at a maximum TOTOX value of 26. This algae oil has a TOTOX value of <6.
It can vary from person to person how they react to the TOTOX value: some people experience no issues with a high TOTOX value, while others may have problems with burping even at a low TOTOX value.

Some brands use chemical agents to lower and maintain the TOTOX value of liquid algae or fish oils. We do not have these chemical agents in our algae oil.

Ingredients
Algae oil Omega 3 HiEPA™ (DHA and EPA-rich oil from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp.), vegetarian capsule (modified pea starch, glycerol (humectant), carrageenan (thickening agent), antioxidants (tocopherol-rich extracts).

Usage
Take 1-2 capsules per day with water, preferably with a meal. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, a maximum of 1 capsule per day.
