Mepitel Sterile 5 x 7cm
Mepitel is a transparent and flexible wound contact material with adhesive properties. Mepitel consists of a supple polyamide mesh covered with a soft silicone layer, Safetac. Mepitel does not absorb wound fluid.

What is this product used for
completely shields the wound edges. This prevents the wound fluid from coming into contact with the surrounding skin, thereby preventing maceration. Due to the open structure of Mepitel, wound fluid can easily pass vertically to a secondary absorbent dressing. This dressing must
should be replaced depending on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate to prevent softening of the wound edges. Due to the integrity of the Mepitel dressing and the properties of the soft silicone layer (Safetac), it
not only minimizes the need for regular changes of the primary dressing, but also ensures painless removal of the secondary dressing. Mepitel provides minimal pain and trauma during dressing changes.
Instructions for use
Clean the wound if necessary and dry the skin around the wound.
Choose a size of Mepitel that completely covers the wound and ensure an overlap of at least 2 cm on the surrounding healthy skin. If necessary, Mepitel can be cut to size before the protective paper is removed. If multiple pieces are used side by side, ensure that Mepitel overlaps by a maximum of 1 cm.
First remove the smallest protective paper while holding the largest protective paper. Moisten gloves to prevent sticking to Mepitel.
Place Mepitel on the wound and ensure a good fit to the surrounding skin.
Remove the remaining protective paper. In local treatment with corticosteroids, antibacterial ointments, or hydrogels, the products can be applied under and also on Mepitel.
Place a compress or absorbent dressing (Mesorb) on Mepitel. Ensure that sufficient padding is used around joints and curves (e.g., underarm, under breast, inside elbow, groin, deep wounds) to keep Mepitel flat on the wound.
The top dressing can be secured with a wide fixation plaster or a bandage. Mepitel can also be used in combination with compression dressings.
