Terranova Prenatal Multivitamin Complex is a nourishing formula that
provides basic nutritional support during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The formulation contains folate as L-methylfolate and vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin.

Women planning a pregnancy should ideally take 400g daily for at least 3 months before conception and then during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Research has shown that calcium L-methylfolate is a more bioavailable form of folic acid, as it is better absorbed and not affected by metabolic defects. Data suggest that 6-14% of the population may have a methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase or MTHFR gene mutation, resulting in a significantly reduced ability to convert folic acid into a usable form for the body. Calcium L-methylfolate is not affected in the same way and is therefore suitable for all users, with the added benefit of improved utilization.

The vitamin B12 used in Terranova Prenatal Multivitamin is in the form of methylcobalamin, which has been shown to have superior bioavailability compared to the more commonly used form of B12, namely cyanocobalamin. This form is generally used by most other supplement manufacturers. Methylcobalamin has been shown to be better absorbed and retained in larger amounts in body tissues, resulting in more effective utilization.

Terranova Prenatal Multivitamin provides 15mg DHA from Algal Oil (a derivative of algae).
