An ovulation test measures a certain hormone that is released when your body is ready to produce an egg. If you test positive, you can be sure that you are approaching ovulation and are in your fertile period. An ovulation test thus helps you to become pregnant more easily.

What makes the Testjezelf.nu Ovulation Test unique?

Is this ovulation test easy to use?
By collecting a little urine for a few days (preferably at a fixed time) and performing the test, you will know if you are approaching ovulation. When you should start testing is clearly described with an example and a table in the package insert.

The tests are delivered including a pipette. This is very important because this way you always perform the test correctly. You always test or measure with the right amount of urine. You collect the urine and apply 5 to 7 drops to the test. The cassette ovulation test is many times more reliable than the dipstick or strip tests that are sometimes offered. These dipstick tests are unsuitable for home use because you can never administer the same amount of urine when using such a strip. Therefore, the course of your LH curve cannot be measured accurately.

Also compared to the midstream ovulation test (which you need to hold in your urine stream), the cassette ovulation test from Testjezelf.nu is a more reliable test. The extra step of first collecting the urine does not outweigh the certainty that you are always testing correctly and obtaining a more reliable result.

With this ovulation test, you have the result within 5 minutes. If the test line is the same color as the control line, your ovulation will occur within 24 to 36 hours and you are fertile. Sometimes the test line may remain slightly lighter if you did not add enough urine or drank too much before testing. The result is still positive.

How reliable is an ovulation test?
An Ovulation Test is the most reliable way to determine your fertile period. Other methods (such as temperature tracking) are not nearly as reliable. The tests are CE certified and of course come with a comprehensive Dutch manual that ensures testing cannot go wrong.
By the way; we advise against using saliva tests to test your ovulation. We have been asked for several years to act as a distributor of these products, but internal checks have led us to decide not to proceed with this. The saliva test for your ovulation is not reliable.

Can I also use an ovulation test with an irregular cycle?
No problem, the manual describes in detail how and when you can start testing. Sometimes (especially if you have been using the pill for a while) your cycle is not regular. Instructions for use
The first test day (of the total of 7 testing days) is determined based on the length of your ovulation cycle previously noted by you. The first day is taken as the day on which your first bleeding (menstruation) occurs. The table below indicates the corresponding and associated first test day (start of the test) for different ovulation cycles.

For shorter or longer or irregular cycles, it is best to determine the optimal start time for the test in consultation with your doctor. For irregular cycles, an extension of the test duration may be advisable.
1) Test preparation
• If the test has been stored in the refrigerator, let it come to room temperature first.
• Have a clean (free of soap residues or dishwashing liquid) and dry plastic cup or glass and a watch or stopwatch at hand.
For each test day, there is a Cassette Ovulation Test (total of 7) including a pipette available.
2) Collecting urine
The urine to be collected should be gathered at the same time every day. Do not use morning urine, as it has become too concentrated overnight and may give a false test result.
Do not consume excessive amounts of drink or liquid for 3 hours before the test, as this can lead to overly diluted urine. If desired, urine can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, refrigerated urine must be brought to room temperature before using the test!
3) Performing the test
• Read the package leaflet carefully first.
• Tear open the foil and remove the cassette and the plastic pipette from the packaging. Place the cassette on a flat surface. The opened test must be used immediately.

Result Window Test Window
• Use the pipette to collect some urine and drop 5 drops into the round test window. You will see the light pink liquid slowly move to the result window.
• Wait exactly 5 minutes. Within this time, you will see 1 or 2 red lines appear in the Result Window.
• Immediately read the result and note it along with the date and time of testing in the table as shown on the 2nd page of this leaflet.
4) Test evaluation
The red lines in the Result Window are evaluated under the designations 'T' (Test line) and 'C' (Control line). The brightness of the Test line (light or dark red) depends on the LH concentration.
Over time, this will darken, so it is important to observe the reading time of 5 minutes.

Ingredients
The Testjezelf.nu Ovulation Test includes a cassette (packed 7 per box), a pipette per test included in the test package, and this leaflet. The desiccant in the test package can be disposed of with household waste. Additional required items (not included): Clean container to collect urine and a watch or stopwatch
