Vitakruid Astaxanthine Astapure 4mg sustainably cultivated algaeKing of the carotenoids
Astaxanthine is one of the most powerful antioxidants that nature has to offer. This substance is produced by algae, plankton, and various microorganisms. Astaxanthine falls under the carotenoids, natural colorants responsible for the yellow, orange, and red colors in vegetables and fruits.
The richest natural source of astaxanthine is the Haematococcus pluvialis, which is also known as the blood rain algae due to its deep red color. The animals that eat these algae acquire a distinctive pink-red color. Think of salmon, lobster, crab, trout, and shrimp. Some birds, like the flamingo, also obtain this pigment.
Important role in nature
Algae produce astaxanthine to protect themselves against stressful conditions such as drought and sunlight in the summer. This allows the algae to protect their DNA, enabling them to grow again under better conditions.
Moreover, it is known that astaxanthine helps salmon swim up to 3,000 kilometers upstream. In birds, high concentrations of astaxanthine are found in the eyes.
100% naturally occurring
For our product, we have chosen AstaPure®, the most sustainable astaxanthin in the world. AstaPure® is produced under natural conditions at a GMP-certified location in the Arava desert in Israel. Thanks to the stable climate, this region enjoys abundant sunlight, clean air, and is free from pollutants all year round. Additionally, the algae cultivation does not displace crops due to the remote location in the desert.
Completely sustainable production process
The entire production takes place using solar energy. Furthermore, during the production process, underground seawater is used, eliminating the need for drinking water. This water is then recycled by 80%. The production process of AstaPure® is therefore completely sustainable.
Green and red phase
The production occurs in two phases that mimic the accumulation of astaxanthin in nature. In the green phase, the algae enjoy optimal natural growth conditions, allowing them to grow maximally. In the red phase, the algae are exposed to harsh conditions, prompting them to produce astaxanthin as a defense mechanism.
Highest purity of astaxanthin
AstaPure® is produced from the algae Haematococcus pluvialis, which contains the most concentrated natural form of astaxanthin. Combined with production in the remote location of the Arava desert, this results in the highest purity of astaxanthin, namely 95% of the total carotenoids extracted from the algae.
NAXA® & USDA® certified
Our Astaxanthin is free from plastics, environmental pollutants, synthetic preservatives, and heavy metals. Moreover, no solvent is needed during the production process thanks to CO2 extraction technology. Our Astaxanthin is therefore NAXA® & USDA® certified.
Claims
Astaxanthin can be used as an anti-aging agent as it reduces the visible signs of aging. The carotenoid can be used for the appearance of the skin. Astaxanthin helps maintain the elasticity and softness of the skin, contributing to natural skin rejuvenation.
