Borage (borago officinalis) is an herb derived from the borage plant, which is also known as starflower. By pressing the seeds of the plant, an oil with a high percentage of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is produced. We attribute various health-promoting effects to this omega-6 fatty acid. For this reason, the ancient Greeks already used the herb.

Of all oil-bearing crops, borage is the main plant source of GLA. The oil contains the highest percentage compared to other plants, such as evening primrose. For example, the GLA concentration in borage oil is more than twice as high as in evening primrose oil. In 100 grams of oil from the borage plant, you find 18-26 grams of GLA, while evening primrose contains only 7-10 grams. Additionally, the substance is quite rare in nature: there are very few foods from which you can extract GLA. Therefore, a borage oil supplement is often a welcome addition to your diet!

300 mg GLA per capsule
