In 2004, TNO, together with the American National Enzyme Company, investigated the benefits of supplementing digestive enzymes, including proteases. They developed the patented TNO gastoIntestinal Model (TIM) for this purpose. This model accurately simulates the conditions of the stomach and small intestine. This method allows for samples to be taken during various testing phases, enabling quantitative results regarding the activity of enzyme supplementation to be measured for the first time.
