A semi-essential amino acid
As a rule, our body forms the semi-essential amino acid cysteine from l-methionine, but a lot can go wrong in this conversion process. Acetyl is a lipid-like compound, allowing the intestine to absorb the molecule as a whole. Additionally, the acetyl bond protects the molecule from oxidation, resulting in rapid distribution within the cell. Subsequently, the enzymes present in the cell can quickly split the bond. This allows the body to absorb n-acetyl-l-cysteine well, unlike regular cysteine.

Precursor of Glutathione
Glutathione is a compound of three amino acids (tripeptide) that the body produces from cysteine, glutamine, and glycine. The latter two are very accessible through dietary intake, making them not problematic factors for the formation of glutathione. Cysteine, on the other hand, is harder to obtain from food, making it the limiting factor within this compound. Moreover, cysteine is the active part of the glutathione molecule.

But if glutathione is so important for me, why don't I just take glutathione? Research shows that the body hardly absorbs (reduced) glutathione. The gastrointestinal tract simply destroys the nutrient. Even doses of three grams do not result in an increase in glutathione levels in the body. And since our body does absorb the acetylated form of cysteine, supplementation with the precursor of glutathione is more effective than taking (reduced) glutathione.

Usage
Take 1 to 2 capsules per day. Take with water between meals. If you have a sensitive digestion, take with a carbohydrate-rich meal.
