The main raw material for the production of vitamin D is lanolin. The formation occurs by exposing the fat from sheep's wool (lanolin) to UV light. Due to the use of animal wool, we do not strictly consider vitamin D formed from lanolin as vegan.

The Vitamin D3 Vegan from Vitakruid is, however, made from lichen and is therefore 100 percent plant-based! Lichen produces vitamin D3 in a similar way to humans, based on UV radiation (sunlight). This allows us to maintain the good absorbability of vitamin D3!

Vitamin D3 is the best form
Due to the scarce sunlight in the cold Benelux, insufficient vitamin D levels are generally the reality. Nevertheless, the forms ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) can respectively be found in mushrooms and animal-derived foods.

Mushrooms and animals produce vitamin D in the same way as humans, under the influence of UV radiation (sunlight). The form you consume from animal products (vitamin D3) is even the exact same vitamin D that our skin produces, and therefore the most biologically available form for our human digestive system.

Usage
Take 1 tablet per day.
Not suitable for children up to and including 10 years (legally required notice for >20 mcg vitamin D3).
