Elke Dag Mama Capsules is designed for women who prefer capsules over tablets. Elke Dag Mama Capsules contains the same dosages per two capsules as the product Elke Dag Mama Tablets, with the exception of choline (110 mg instead of 150 mg), vitamin C (80 mg instead of 200 mg), calcium (120 mg instead of 200 mg), and magnesium (60 mg instead of 100 mg). These are dosed lower in the capsules simply because more fits in a tablet than in two capsules.

What is new?
Advancing insights have led to further improvement of the formula. Due to the significantly higher bioavailability of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) compared to 'regular' (synthetic) folic acid, a reduction from 600 to 400 mcg is possible. Several other ingredients have also been reviewed and adjusted downwards where possible (especially the B vitamins), while still achieving ample dosages. This has created space for an increase in other important nutrients (especially for pregnant women), such as choline, vitamin C, vitamin K2, calcium, and magnesium.

Vitamin A should not be missing in a pregnancy multivitamin
Many pregnant women are warned about the dangers of too much vitamin A. However, the need for vitamin A is higher during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is therefore important not to be too cautious with the intake of vitamin A. Elke Dag Mama contains, in addition to 3 mg of natural beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A), also 150 mcg of vitamin A. This is a desirable and very safe dosage of vitamin A. The body will not convert more beta-carotene into vitamin A than it needs, and thus will not lead to an excessively high vitamin A level.

Optimal dosages to meet increased needs during pregnancy
Women are advised to take extra folic acid at least a month before conception and during pregnancy. Elke Dag Mama uses a superior, biologically active form of folic acid (folate) bound to glucosamine salt (Quatrefolic®). The binding with glucosamine salt makes it possible to keep the biologically active form stable and ensures optimal absorption. The formula contains 400 mcg of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate per daily dosage of two capsules.

Elke Dag Mama contains a generous dosage of 30 mcg of vitamin B12 in the biologically active forms of methyl- and adenosylcobalamin. The advantage of these body-native forms is that they are better absorbed and remain available in the body longer than the usual synthetic form of vitamin B12 in supplements (cyanocobalamin). A very important nutrient during pregnancy is choline. There have been very recent studies that have increased knowledge about this. The formula contains no less than 110 mg of choline per 2 capsules.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding need more vitamin D. Elke Dag Mama therefore contains a generous dosage of 25 mcg of vitamin D3. Furthermore, this is of plant origin and thus suitable for vegans.

Women generally need more iron than men. During pregnancy, women need even more iron to support the production of cells and tissues. Elke Dag Mama therefore contains a generous daily dosage of 28 mg of iron from the stomach-friendly iron bisglycinate (Ferrochel®), which is a well-absorbed amino acid chelate from Albion (TRAACS®). Moreover, the formula now contains no less than 200 mg of vitamin C, which is beneficial for the absorption of iron.

There is also a generous dosage of iodine (150 mcg) that contributes to the normal growth of children.

Ingredients

Usage
Take 2 capsules per day with a meal with water or as advised. Stick to the recommended dosage. This dietary supplement is not suitable for children up to and including 10 years. (mandatory mention for products with more than 20 mcg of vitamin D per daily dosage).

Consult when using coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants such as acenocoumarol
and phenprocoumon) first consult a doctor before using a supplement with vitamin K.
