Stevia rebaudiana or honey herb is a plant that originates from South and Central America. The leaves of this plant have an intensely sweet taste and have been used by the indigenous people of these countries for centuries to sweeten drinks like mate.
Due to the disadvantages of excessive sugar consumption, the food industry has long been searching for an alternative to sugars to incorporate into food products. Synthetic sweeteners that have been on the market for a while, such as aspartame, are not without controversy, and many people prefer to avoid them. Rebaudioside from Stevia is a natural source sugar substitute and has advantages over regular sugars in that it is low in calories, not harmful to teeth, and has no effect on blood sugar levels.
The sweeteners from Vitals have a high purity. The Stevia extract contains 97% rebaudioside A, one of the components of Stevia responsible for the sweet taste of the leaves and the component that has the least bitter aftertaste. This last point can be a problem with lower quality Stevia products.
In addition, this product is made exclusively from unspoiled Stevia plants and is guaranteed to be free from genetically modified organisms.
