Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazoles. Fipronil and its metabolite fipronil sulfone act on the 'ligand-regulated' chloride channels, particularly the neurotransmitter Gamma-AminoButyric Acid (GABA) regulated as well as the Glutamate regulated 'desensitizing' (D) and 'non-desensitizing' (N) channels (Glu, its unique regulated chloride channels, occurring exclusively in invertebrates), which bind to the chloride channel and thereby block the pre- and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions through the cell membrane. This results in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system, leading to the death of insects and acarids.

Pyriproxyfen is an Insect Growth Regulator whose action is based on juvenile hormone analog activity. Pyriproxyfen sterilizes adult fleas and prevents the development of immature stages. The molecule prevents, through contact, the increase in the number of adult fleas by counteracting the development of their eggs (ovicide action), larvae, and pupae (larvicide action), which then disappear.
If adult fleas ingest pyriproxyfen and/or come into contact with it, the molecule also sterilizes flea eggs during their development and even before they are laid. The molecule prevents contamination of the environment of treated animals with immature flea stages.

What this product is used for
To be used for flea infestations alone or together with tick infestations.

Against fleas:
Treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis). One treatment prevents further infestations for 7 weeks.
Prevention of flea multiplication by preventing the development of adult fleas from flea eggs for 12 weeks after administration.

Against ticks:
Treatment of tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus).
One treatment provides persistent acaricidal efficacy against Ixodes ricinus for 2 weeks and against Dermacentor reticulatus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus for 4 weeks.
If certain types of ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus) are already present when administering the veterinary medicinal product, not all ticks may be killed within the first 48 hours.

Do not use in rabbits, as side effects and even death may occur.

Dosage
Administer one pipette of 2.68 ml per dog with a body weight of 20 to 40 kg, corresponding
with the minimum recommended dosage of 6.7 mg fipronil /kg body weight and 2 mg
pyriproxyfen/kg body weight.

For dogs > 60 kg, the appropriate combination of pipettes should be used.

Instructions for use
Remove the pipette from the blister pack. Hold the pipette upright. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to ensure that all the contents are in the reservoir of the pipette.
Break off the tip of the spot-on pipette along the break line. Push the dog's hair aside between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette directly against the skin and gently squeeze several times to empty it. If necessary, the contents of the pipette can be applied at 1 or 2 additional spots to prevent the veterinary medicine from falling off the skin or being applied too superficially in the coat, especially in large dogs.

The treatment consists of one pipette, with the possibility of repeating the application monthly.
For optimal control of flea and tick infestations and the reproduction of fleas, the treatment schedule can be adjusted to the epidemiological situation.
