As a dietary supplement, it offers protection to the heart and blood vessels, eyes and brain, muscles and joints, and connective tissue and skin. It is an effective means of preventing sunburn and helps to increase resistance by combating oxidative stress and silent inflammation. Important processes in the immune system can be supported with astaxanthin. But why a book about astaxanthin? Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant from the water with a deep red color. It is the substance that colors aquatic animals such as the flamingo, salmon, and lobster red. Astaxanthin is an antioxidant that is currently too rare in our daily menu, but is in fact a 'prime protector'. We are familiar with the antioxidants that beautifully color land fruits red or dark blue and that are so super healthy for us.
